Canadian Feminist Forum: Our eight asks to improve Transgender lives in Canada

Two forums to impact Canada’s priorities at CSW65, Generation Equality Forum 2021 and UN SDG2030 by discussing the feminist movement in the COVID-19 era, the Canadian Feminist Forum invited panelists to ask governments, civil society, and the private sector for action to keep progress moving.

From addressing hatred online to non-charitable acts to better access to health services, the Morgane Oger Foundation offered up eight asks to improve the lives of Trans women, as well as those of nonbinary persons, two-spirit persons, and all other Transgender persons in Canada.

Precedent setting: Tribunal hears Oger v Whatcott hate publication complaint.

Morgane Oger complained to the BC Human Rights Tribunal that during the 2017 BC election, Bill Whatcott produced and distributed flyers attacking her on the grounds of her gender identity and expression, calling her gender identity “an impossibility” and claiming that transgender people are at an elevated risk of various diseases and violent acts. The tribunal heard her complaint in December 2018.
